Twilight Industry (Port) Tour

Travel through Port Hedland’s vast resource export operations, taking in iron ore trains and unloading facilities, enormous stockpiles, the shipping channel, major port operations, bulk carriers and ship loading.

Along the way, discover the history of Port Hedland and how the port became the world’s largest bulk export port. As the sun sets, enjoy a complimentary sundowner refreshment while watching the huge ships come and go and on the way back learn about what’s planned for Port Hedland and the Pilbara.

See the world’s largest bulk export port from the outside looking in, then see inside the port from the harbour mouth. Travel past the Rio Tinto Salt operations and Lumsden Point, then around to Finucane Island, where you’ll see iron ore trains and unloading facilities, enormous iron ore stockpiles and the massive machinery that moves the ore.

See the shipping channel and harbour mouth, major port operations, bulk carriers, tugboats and ship loading up close.

As the sun sets over the harbour, enjoy a complimentary beverage while watching the ships and tugboats come and go. See and handle samples of the resources exported through the port and learn about their journey from the Pilbara to the world.

On the journey home, see the port illuminated as the night shift begins.

The tour includes a fully air-conditioned bus trip and stops on the way will allow you to get out, take photos and experience the port in the open air, including enjoying a complimentary drink whilst taking in the majestic view of the Port Hedland sunset over the ocean.
